Nosy Crow
I first came across Nosy Crow when they were advertising for a Design Assistant, and from reading about the company I immediately liked the sound of them.
A indie publisher to some huge names in the children's book world- featuring work by 'The Gruffalo' illustrator Axel Scheffler. They publish a huge range of children's books, but they all feature beautiful design and illustration.
The one thing I loved about this company was their mantra on their 'About Us' page- stating that having fun and being happy is the most important thing to them as a company. I think this is a really important aspect of my work, and if I'm not having fun making it then I usually do not think it is very successful. I could see myself working for a company like this- an independent publisher is a great way to get into the professional world without having to 'feed the corporate machine' (words from the Nosy Crow!)

Belly Kids
According to their website they release 'books, prints, tapes and all sorts of weird accessories'. It also states how they love to work with positive people, which gives them an open and friendly attitude that would convince me to contact them with my work.
Their illustration books have fun and wacky themes, and a lot of them are Simpsons based which I love. As they are quite a small company, I could approach them for work experience when I leave university just to see the type of work they do day to day. I think my style of illustration would suit this place as it is colourful and a little but weird!

It's Nice That
What makes this kind of site appealing is that they have a submission form- so not only is it easy to send them work, they're basically begging me to! Although they do mention that they receive up to 100 submissions a day, so I would be tempted to post promotional items to them on top of that, just to double up chances of them seeing my work.

Wrap Magazine
I love the designs that Wrap makes, and I think my work, especially my repeat patterns, would really suit their paper.
They also accept submissions, which makes me feel better about sending them stuff- it takes the worry off sending work somewhere it might not be wanted! However I have to get over my fear of rejection, otherwise I won't get anywhere.

Ammo
Curators of illustration projects and producers of illustrations books, their artist directory showcases a vast range of skilled artists with wildly different styles and themes. Again, what draws me to these type of companies is the fact they have a submit option- and for straight out of university these will be the first places I turn to.
It's also encouraging to see under their 'Take Part' tab that they promise to look through all submissions, and that they also like seeing personal work- taking the pressure off the fact that many graduates won't have any commercial work under their belt yet.

Champion
Champion first caught my eye as it is linked to the Belly Kids webpage. They offer all types of design from marketing and advertising, to spot illustration and publishing. I like the homepage of this agency more so than the other I have just, simply because I think my style would fit in with the other artists they feature.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All in all I have looked at places that I both enjoy the vibe of the company but also the kind of work they represent- it also helps that most of them have an open submission so it will be easy for me to send my work to them, be it online or post them my promotional items
