Examples of business cards at university :
I like the colour of this business card and I think brown paper/card communicates a kind of rustic, homemade feel. It also compliments the illustration nicely, making a card that is cohesive and provides a clear identity- emphasised by the matching packet of wildflower seeds that accompanies it. The illustration itself is bold and clear, although might not be particularly rememberable. From the front of the card (just the bee) I think it could be any company, and I would think of some kind of gardening business or something honey related before I think of illustration!
I like the use of just pattern on the front of the card with all the details on the back. I think it means you can have an image uninterrupted by text on one side and then the information clearly written on the other. I also like the size of theme on the back and how it differs from the other fonts. The simple colour scheme is eye-catching and the shape and size of the card makes it extra special. I like that the combination of the square shape of the card itself and the pattern makes it look like a tile.
Again I like the separation of the illustration and the information- and I love that the shape of the card has informed the design. Also by picking something that is recognisable (and much loved) I think helps make for a popular card which is rememberable. I like the typography of the illustrators name and again how it sets itself apart from the other text. The size of her name is large and eye-catching, and the 'a little pick me up' tag-line is also a nice touch.
I love that the front of this business card looks like a cropped down version of a full illustration, and then I like the snippet of illustration on the back to go with the type. The colour of the fonts is in keeping with the colourful illustrations, however the yellow might be a little hard to read.
I think the overall colour of this card is really attractive, and it's especially nice with the pop of pink on the back. The front of the card is particularly interesting, and I like that you can't tell how the image is made. To me it looks like a photo of a 3D object, and I think this would be something for me to consider as I like to make 3D things and maybe this would be a good way to communicate that on a business card. The back of the card has a simple composition, and I think the font reflects the contemporary and cool style of the artist. The little hand drawn detail above the text adds another quality to the card and shows an extra skill. The fact that it is portrait sets it apart from the other cards and makes it stand out.
Again I like the idea of cropping an illustration to fit a card, and have it overflow to the back of the card. The type is bold and also colour coordinated with the illustrations.
Business cards from London Illustration Fair:
I like the use of spot gloss on this card, especially as it forms a different shape around the illustration. The composition of the illustration itself is simple and bold, the solid black of the image looks dynamic against the bright white of the card. The font on the back is also bold yet quite decorative, with a colour palette to match the front.
I think the texture of the paper and the colour palette used on the front of this card is really effective. The use of several different colours on the front juxtaposes well with the plain black text on the back. The mix of typography and size of text is also just as eye-catching as the other side.
Bold and interesting design on the front which is paired with a different style composition on the back. I think the thick, recycled card looks great with the flat black pattern that has a hand printed feel- and the green edge also stands out.
Above is not a business card but I thought it was a good piece of promotional work (either that or it was a small print for sale and I straight up stole it from someones table) It's hard to see from the picture but this is slightly bigger and thinner than a standard business card, and creating smaller artworks that are easy to keep and hand out are a nice way to spread your work about.
